About "EduTunes With Miss Jenny"

Hi, and thanks for visiting "Edutunes With Miss Jenny!" I ("Miss Jenny") began writing songs for my students 26 years ago after attending a professional development seminar. The speaker explained that children learn more, retain more, and love learning through songs. I was so inspired that I began writing songs about everything I wanted to teach. When California introduced its draft for the state standards 25 years ago, I wrote a song to teach each standard to my children.

At that time, teachers at my school really wanted tools to teach these new standards. I conducted a pilot study with 80 teachers (and over 1500 children) in San Diego, CA. Other teachers used the songs in their classrooms and gave me suggestions for making the music truly user-friendly and effective with children. This truly has become my passion and my way to make a difference in the world. I hesitate to write a resume here (and even thought about saying it in the 3rd person) but I want you to feel confident that this work WILL make a difference for your children...so here goes! • Developed over 350 educational tunes along with related products to meet children's needs.
• Studied in the UH Manoa doctoral “Learning Design and Technology” program in order to incorporate the latest research-based strategies into this work.
• Given professional development seminars independently and for companies including the Bureau of Education and Research, Staff Development for Educators, and the Institute for Educational Development about promoting effective, research-based classroom practices.
• Licensed songs to companies including Pearson Learning, Macmillan/McGraw-Hill, Wizard Schools, and NASA
• Created collaborative projects with fellow teacher-authors including Deanna Jump and Deedee Wills.
