“Know Those Tens” is one of 5 songs on the We Love Math CD that helps children to quickly recall math facts—and singing it takes up less than a minute of class time!
Learning “10’s” will become important when children have to add several numbers. If they group numbers that equal 10 first, then they will more easily be able to add the numbers mentally. For instance, in adding 4+3+7+6, if we recognize that 4+6=10 and 3+7=10, then we can quickly come up with the answer, 20.
